Fresh & fabulous: Naomi Watts a natural as the ‘face’ of iconic Aussie fashion brand, Sportscraft
AFTER a very successful collaboration, Aussie fashion brand Sportscraft have announced their continued partnership with iconic Australian actor Naomi Watts, launching a striking Spring campaign.
This season was a family affair, with the campaign shot by Naomi’s photographer brother Ben Watts. The siblings were right at home shooting together; Naomi very much at ease and relaxed with her brother behind the camera.
The campaign captures the exquisite 47-year-old shot beachside, looking bright and fresh in a collection of pieces that celebrate the change of season, and reinforce Sportscraft’s commitment to the quintessential Australian lifestyle.
“It’s great to be back with Sportscraft for the spring summer season. I’ll never forget growing up in Australia by the beach. Shooting this campaign brought up treasured memories and feelings of nostalgia,” says Ms Watts.
Naomi’s family moved to Sydney when she was a teenager and at high school she met Nicole Kidman, with whom she co-starred in Flirting (1991).
Watts’ movie career took off in 2001 with David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, followed by two The Ring films, 21 Grams (2003), Peter Jackson’s remake of King Kong (2005), Eastern Promises (2007) and The Impossible (2012), for which she received her second Academy Award nomination.
“We’re thrilled to have Naomi back as our ambassador for spring summer. Her timeless style and sophistication perfectly embodies the Sportscraft brand”. Adrian Jones, CEO of APG & Co said.
“I love working with my sister. It’s been a while since I shot with her, so I was really excited to be a part of the team working on an Aussie brand that’s really become an institution,” said Ben Watts.
The new collection focuses on beautiful fabrication, textures and uplifting colour to signify the start of spring with flashes of mandarin that are paired back with freshness in crisp ivory, duck egg and bold Prussian blue.
Design detail, prints and texture play a big role for spring and are shown in delicate pleating, tropical leaf and floral motifs, and soft lightweight knitwear.
Sportscraft Signature showcases sophistication in tailoring, tied together with clean nautical lines including statement crop jackets which are worn easily over a bright twist front dress or delicate drapefront shirts.
The spring summer season will conclude a historical year for the 101-year-old Sportscraft brand as it zooms into century two, continuing to celebrate Australians and our unique way of life.

Last year Sportscraft looked to eight ambassadors to celebrate its 100-year milestone in the industry. For Autumn 2015, however, the Australian lifestyle brand has signed on just one: Naomi Watts.
This is one of the most fitting partnerships we’ve ever seen to date, and the 46-year-old actress thinks so too. “Sportscraft represents all the things that are a part of me: a working woman, a mother, someone who wants to look classic and well put together,” she said in a behind-the-scenes video.
Shot by Carter Smith on a picturesque beach down under, Naomi models a mix of elegant and sophisticated ensembles which the respected retailer is so well known for. Think soft-pink and creamy turtlenecks teamed with beige or crisp-white roll-up pants for a timeless look that suits Naomi perfectly.
“It’s very flattering to be invited to work with important brands, and the fact that it’s Australian… and obviously my heart is still always in Australia,” Naomi said of the shoot, making us fellow Aussies feel all warm inside. “I think Australian style is, you know, effortless,” she continued.

Naomi has lent her name and face to Italian fashion brand Bulgari’s new LVCEA watch range. See the photos in our Gallery, and click the links below to find out more about the watches.
Bvlgari captures the power of luminosity in LVCEA, a new timepiece for women. Tribute to the sundial, LVCEA winds history with modernity, clasping function to design. A rounded case, its lithe foundation, and a spectrum of shades and styles make LVCEA as luminously feminine as it is unmistakable.
Looking good while doing good! In continued support for Save the Children, Bulgari has launched a new pendant as part of its collection benefitting the charity. On board with the philanthropic movement are stars Jon Hamm, Naomi Watts, Jeremy Renner, Lizzy Caplan, Meg Ryan, Ben Stiller, and Ricky Martin, who posed in a series of dramatic shots for the campaign.
Renner, 43—father to 13-month-old Ava Berlin—may have a soft spot for the partnership, which focuses on providing quality education and, beginning this year, supporting life-saving interventions for under-privileged children and newborns in 23 countries across four continents.
Stiller, 48, has long been a supporter of the charity, making trips to Uganda and Haiti with the organization in the past. “There’s no way you can’t be affected by the place,” Stiller has said of his service trip to Haiti. “Going to the central plateau, where living conditions are so hard and basic services are as scarce as in the most undeveloped parts of Africa, was profoundly moving.”
To date, Bulgari has donated over $27 million to Save the Children through sales of its silver and ceramic ring, with a goal of donating an additional $1 million through sales of the newly launched pendant. The two pieces are inspired by the B.zero1 jewelry line and are available for purchase in Bulgari stores worldwide, select department stores and on the Bulgari website.
Naomi has recently continued her work as the face of Aussie wine brand Jacob’s Creek, and has been promoting their new True Friendships Vines campaign which aims to encourage Aussie women to enjoy more quality time together with Cool Harvest wines. There are photos from the new campaign in our Gallery, a new press interview with Naomi on our Press page, and a video below.

• Naomi Watts the friend not just the superstar visits the Barossa Valley with girlfriends – The Sunday Telegraph (Aus), March 8th 2014
Whilst browsing Tumblr for anything new on Naomi, I came across this music video by The Charlatans which features Naomi. At first I thought it might’ve been another music video she’d done quietly (she did a couple in the early 90’s), but having done a bit more searching it seems that it is a commercial for David Yurman, featuring a song from The Charlatans. This was done back in 2006. I don’t remember having seen it before, so I thought I’d post it as a bit of a ‘blast from the past':

Well I’m kind of glad he made it into a movie, at the same time…
Check this out for a Lynchism: we just did some music for a Naomi Watts advert. It’s “You’re So Pretty” from “Wonderland,” and it’s her looking like she did in “Mulholland Drive,” floating about for three minutes. I’d show it to you, only my computer’s broken…

Watts shining bright in 2013
Having spent years in the shadow of her great friend Nicole Kidman, Sydney-raised Naomi Watts has finally hit her stride, her name being feted in the 2013 awards season, garnering nominations for SAG, Golden Globe and AACTA gongs, and on Friday an Oscar nomination for her role in The Impossible, playing a mother in search of her family following the 2004 Asian tsunami.
Gracing the current cover of Vogue Australia and with more than 60 cinematic roles under her belt, Watts was honoured at last weekend’s Palm Springs Film Festival, where she told the audience having her sons Sasha and Kai to fellow actor Liev Schreiber, had ”breathed life into me”.
”People ask me all the time, ‘is it scary getting older?’ I say ‘why, because I feel my face sliding closer and closer to my navel?’ But I feel truly blessed by the extraordinary roles I have played so far and maybe it’s age that has given me this blessing … to play women who have truly lived,” Watts said.
Here is another official behind the scenes video from the El Corte Ingles advert, with interviews with Naomi and J.A. Bayona:
