Naomi will be heard on Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo’s Film Reviews radio show on BBC Radio 5 Live (?) to promote Diana next week. She taped her appearance yesterday – and it had some controversy, as you can read below. Mayo tweeted that he thinks this interview will air next week, not this week as the article below states.
Naomi Watts walks out of Simon Mayo interview
Naomi Watts has walked out of an interview with BBC Radio Five Live’s Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode.
The actress was in to talk about her portrayal of Princess Diana, in the new biopic ‘Diana’, but it seems that she wasn’t much in the mood for it.
Tweeting about the incident, Mayo wrote:
A first for me and @wittertainment as Naomi Watts walked out of an interview! She seemed a tad uncomfortable with the questions. Shame
— Simon Mayo (@simonmayo) September 3, 2013
@wittertainment is Mayo’s partner on the Five Live movie show Mark Kermode.
When asked later why she left the interview, and it was suggested he might have implied the film was not in the best taste, he replied: “No, not at all. Didn’t express any opinion. So still baffled.”
He joked to fellow BBC presenter Shelagh Fogarty: “The honest answer is I have no idea. You know my hectoring style is always a problem.”
Naomi is on the cover of the Labour Day (August 30th) issue of US regional magazine Hamptons. It comes with a beautiful new photoshoot and an conversational interview with Naomi’s good friend and We Don’t Live Here Anymore co-star Laura Dern. It’s a good read, and I particularly liked reading them talk about St Vincent and their hobbies. Scans and the photoshoot are both in the Gallery for you. You can read the interview through the scans or at the official Hamptons website.
The new October 2013 issue of UK Empire magazine has a new interview with Naomi to promote Diana, and thanks to our friend Celyn we have some exclusive scans from it for you! Not only is it a new interview, but they also include a new still from the movie, plus a previously unseen photo from this 2012 photoshoot, in which Naomi looks absolutely beautiful. She also talks a bit about her upcoming projects Birdman and St Vincents, some of her older films and career choices, the directors she’s worked with and those she’d like to work with (Wes Anderson and Alexander Payne – excellent choices), and her friendship with Nicole … all in all, it’s a pretty fantastic and in depth interview and a must-read!! So here are the scans….
Naomi appears in the January 23rd issue of Italian Vanity Fair, and I have found and added scans to our Gallery for you. I think the feature on her is part of their Oscar special, based on the little gold man seen at the start of the article. The quality is not very good, but it’s still a nice, rarely-seen photoshoot to see.
During her time at the Sundance Film Festival, Naomi popped by In Style’s Portrait Studio to say hi to them. She posed for portraits there, which will be seen in the upcoming April issue of their magazine. She was also snapped whilst visiting the studio, and those photos can now be seen in our Gallery. On her new film Two Mothers, she told In Style, “On the very first read, I knew I had to do it.”
The In Style website have also posted a few tidbits about Naomi from the festival, including info on where to get her shoes and how to get her lip colour – read them further down this post.
InStyle set up shop at the Grey Goose Blue Door Lounge on Main Street in Park City, Utah. Stars were treated to touch-ups before taking a seat in our pop-up studio, and then got a chance to peruse the new collection of outerwear and accessories by Coach, as well as the sturdy, comfy, and cute footwear by Sorel.
