We <3 Naomi!

"Not since I saw Meryl Streep’s performance in Sophie’s Choice have I been so moved by an actress’s performance. It also reminded me of Sally Field’s Norma Rae as well. Such strength and absolute vulnerability in the same performance. A mother who is determined to teach her child what it means to be a good person even when facing her own mortality. You showed every side of Maria’s story."
- Reese Witherspoon on 'The Impossible'

US Weekly: Sundance Film Festival’s Best Performances

Jan 27th 2013 • by Jess • No Comments • Two Mothers

US Weekly list Naomi in Two Mothers as one of their top performances at Sundance:

Couldn’t make it to Sundance this year? No worries! Us Weekly film critic Mara Reinstein is here to give you the inside scoop on which performances were hot in cold Park City. Earlier in the week, she raved about Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy’s Before Midnight, the third installment of the duo’s cinematic ode to love. Now here are her other picks for standout performances at Sundance.

The MILF of the Century: Naomi Watts, Two Mothers

Picture it. Naomi Watts and Robin Wright are childhood besties living in a gorgeous Australian beach town with their Adonis-like teen surfer sons. Then they sleep with each other’s kids. “We’ve crossed the line,” declares Watts with a straight face. Gee, you think? But wait, there’s more: These respective relationships go on for years. Years! Utterly ridiculous yet laughably earnest, this one’s destined for the guilty pleasure queue. And in case you were wondering, 40-somethings Watts and Wright show off seriously buff bikini bods.

Sundance 2013: Exclusive Releasing Acquires ‘Two Mothers’

The Naomi Watts-Robin Wright starrer, which premiered at Eccles Theatre on Jan. 18, will receive a theatrical run and a day-and-date VOD release.

Sources peg the deal at low seven figures for the sexy drama that will get a theatrical run and a day-and-date VOD launch.

The story revolves around the passionate affairs of two lifelong friends who fall in love with each other’s sons. Directed by Anne Fontaine and written by Christopher Hampton, the tale of love, lust and friendship stars Naomi Watts, Robin Wright, Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville.

Two Mothers premiered Jan. 18 at Eccles Theatre as part of Sundance’s Premieres category.

The sale marks the first acquisition for Exclusive Releasing, headed by Scott Pascucci and Matt Brodlie. The company was launched in September at the Toronto Film Festival.

Philippe Carcassonne, Francis Boespflug and Andrew Mason produced 2 Mothers. Troy Lum executive produced.

The deal was negotiated by Brodlie and CAA along with Cécile Gaget of Gaumont International, which financed the film.

CAA repped the filmmakers.

Jan 27th 2013 • by Jess • No Comments • Alert, Event, Gallery Updates, Style, Two Mothers

During her time at the Sundance Film Festival, Naomi popped by In Style’s Portrait Studio to say hi to them. She posed for portraits there, which will be seen in the upcoming April issue of their magazine. She was also snapped whilst visiting the studio, and those photos can now be seen in our Gallery. On her new film Two Mothers, she told In Style, “On the very first read, I knew I had to do it.”

The In Style website have also posted a few tidbits about Naomi from the festival, including info on where to get her shoes and how to get her lip colour – read them further down this post.

InStyle set up shop at the Grey Goose Blue Door Lounge on Main Street in Park City, Utah. Stars were treated to touch-ups before taking a seat in our pop-up studio, and then got a chance to peruse the new collection of outerwear and accessories by Coach, as well as the sturdy, comfy, and cute footwear by Sorel.

Naomi Watts and falling in love with the strong women of ‘Two Mothers’

Sundance: Naomi Watts and falling in love with the strong women of ‘Two Mothers’

The description of “Two Mothers,” makes the film sound like a juicy scandal: Two lifelong friends fall in love with each other’s teenage sons. But Academy Award nominee Naomi Watts, who plays one of the mothers in the film, didn’t want to talk about her character’s moral dilemma.

“I’m making films because of the interesting material and if it’s slightly uncomfortable for people that’s understandable. It’s not for everybody but it happens in life in different places all over the world,” said Watts on the red-carpet premiere Friday night at the Eccles Theatre.

Watts co-stars in the film with Robin Wright, who wasn’t in attendance. Demure and softly-spoken, Naomi Watts radiated on the red carpet, but avoided questions relating to her personal life. Nor did she care to enlighten interviewers on how she would feel as a mother if her real-life best friend fell for her son. Instead, Watts stuck to the textbook answers.
