James Franco To Replace Jude Law In QUEEN OF THE DESERT

Werner Herzog’s biopic about Gertrude Bell, an English writer and political officer who helped establish the Hashemite dynasties in what is today Jordan as well as in Iraq has James Franco circling the role that Jude Law was going to play.

Previously scheduled to start shooting ‘in late fall of 2012‘ and then rescheduled for March shoot in Morocco with Naomi Watts, Robert Pattinson and with Jude Law attached, Herzog’s next narrative feature was on hold. Now it appears Oz the Great and Powerful himself may ride in to save the day because Law’s likely unable to participate since his scheduling window had closed.

The film has Watts set to star as famous British Intelligence female spy, while Pattison is attached to star in the film as T.E. Lawrence, the British army officer best known by his nickname Lawrence of Arabia (or should Franco take this role, we do not know yet).

The free-spirited Franco is currently filming true life crime drama True Story with Jonah Hill and Felicity Jones and will soon be seen in apocalyptic stoner comedy This Is The End.

Naomi Watts in Negotiations for Noah Baumbach Movie

Noah Baumbach once again is trying to mount his midlife-crisis-for-hipsters movie While We’re Young.

Naomi Watts is in talks to star opposite Ben Stiller, and Girls’ star Adam Driver also is in talks to join the project, which will likely shoot in the fall in New York.

The project has been on and off for Baumbach and some of its stars. Both Stiller and Driver were around in an earlier incarnation that included Greta Gerwig, but securing financing has been a consistent problem with the project. In fact, a scheduled spring shoot didn’t happen for financial reasons. But Watts’ involvement could help the filmmaker secure the coin.

Written by Baumbach, the story revolves around an uptight documentary filmmaker (Stiller) and his wife (Watts) who find their lives loosened up a bit after befriending a free-spirited younger couple. Driver would play one half of the younger couple. Amanda Seyfried’s name has surfaced as a candidate for the mate of Driver’s character.

(Other incarnations of this project have included James Franco, Cate Blanchett and Jesse Eisenberg.)

Baumbach’s frequent collaborator Scott Rudin is producing.

Watts, who will next be seen in Sunlight Jr. and Two Mothers, also has the Princess Diana biopic Diana in the can. The Aussie star is filming the Alejandro González Iñárritu comedy Birdman and has St. Vincent de Van Nuys on tap.

She is repped by CAA and manager Jason Weinberg at Untitled Entertainment.

Driver already has a packed schedule. He is gearing up to star opposite Chris O’Dowd in Max Winkler’s adaptation of The Coward and will shoot Shawn Levy’s and Warner Brothers’ adaptation of This Is Where I Leave You in the summer, while also shooting a new season of Girls.

Naomi Watts: Blondes Look a ‘Little Bit Porno’ When They Wear Red

We didn’t think there was a single thing Naomi Watts couldn’t wear, but the Academy Award-nominated actress, 44, informs us that there’s just one shade she won’t sport.

“I won’t wear red on the red carpet … I just never think blondes look good in red.” Watts told PEOPLE Wednesday (March 13th) at The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo’s 25 Most Powerful Stylists luncheon in West Hollywood. “I think it’s good for dark haired girls and dark skinned girls. But for some reason, I always feel like I look trashy in it.”

So trashy, in fact, that she believes “blondes plus red, to me, looks a little bit porno, and I’ve never felt quite right.”

How to explain that “near red moment” in Zac Posen, then?

“Because it had a busy print, it had different colors,” she says. “It wasn’t fire engine red. At the [Golden] Globes I wore burgundy or plum. That wasn’t red. If you put blue in it, I can wear it, but orange does not look good with my skin.”

Naomi Watts’ stylist won’t admit that a gown is red as the actress won’t wear the colour.

The Hollywood actress is particular about what hues she dons for the red carpet. Naomi named her favourite look as the pale Marchesa gown she wore to the recent SAG Awards, but stylist Jeanann Williams loves the Zac Posen Bordeaux gown the blonde beauty wore to this year’s Golden Globes.

The style expert won’t admit the dress is red though.

“Naomi told me never to put anything red on a rack of options for red carpet, but I’ve put her in every shade close to red possible,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “I’ll say it’s coral or deep wine or cinnamon – I’ve even Googled synonyms for ‘red’.”

Naomi regularly wows at big industry events, not least at this year’s coveted Academy Awards. The Oscar-nominee impressed in a stunning sequinned Armani Prive gown, which Jeanann thinks was the perfect choice.

“It’s the grand finale. You need to have fun, and you definitely need a dress with the ‘wow’ factor,” she smiled.

Noami explained how she and her trusty stylist came to work together on a full-time basis. The actress was stuck for options a week before an appearance at the 2012 Venice Film Festival and phoned Jeanann – who has a daughter with Naomi’s brother, Ben.

“I was working and didn’t have time to do fittings. Ten dresses arrived at my door, and I remember thinking, ‘Jeanann’s really good at this,’” she revealed.

Jeanann has been included on The Hollywood Reporter’s 25 Most Powerful Stylists list. Also featured is Joseph Cassell, who dresses country songstress Taylor Swift, Petra Flannery who styles the likes of Claire Danes, Emma Stone and Zoe Saldana and Erin Walsh, who is Kerry Washington’s go-to-stylist.

Naomi Watts’s Kids Follow Her Eating Habits

Naomi Watts is a pin-thin actress, but she says she doesn’t get that way from depriving herself of good food.

“Luckily, I have fairly good genetics, but I do exercise,” she told PEOPLE on Wednesday (March 13th) at The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo’s 25 Most Powerful Stylists luncheon in West Hollywood.

“I really do enjoy my food. I don’t starve myself, because if I start denying myself, that’s when I want to eat most of all. It’s fine. I’ve pretty much always been this size. It’s more about just staying in shape.”

But she admits – as she grabs for a cookie at the Soho House-held event – that awards season put a little more pressure on her to maintain a flawless physique.

“It’s so good to be able to eat [what I want] again,” the Erdem-clad The Impossible star said with a laugh. “I probably exercised more during [awards season] than I would normally. You’re showing your arms. At my age you have to work a little harder, it’s true.”

The actress, 44, has raised her two little ones Sasha, 5 and Kai, 4, to take on some of the same lifestyle habits as herself and partner, Liev Schreiber.

“The good thing is I always eat dinner early because I eat it with my kids,” she says. “We travel a lot. I’m not going to go to Paris and push a salad around my plate. I’m going to Paris to have bread and treats and good wine.”

“I like to live! We eat healthy, but if we’re on the road, we’re pulling over and getting what’s available.”
