Trivia

• Based on Valerie Plame's 2007 memoir, "Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House."
• Naomi's partner Liev Schreiber was shooting a film in which he played a spy at the same time Naomi shot this film. "Naomi and I both play CIA agents who appear normal. They aren't Hollywood's idea of a spy. We're both trying to figure out who they are," Liev says. Liev was playing a CIA chief in Salt, opposite Angelina Jolie.
• Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe were originally attached to star.
• This marks the 3rd time Naomi and Sean Penn have worked together - they were first seen together in 21 Grams (2003), and then in The Assassination of Richard Nixon (2004).
• Director Doug Liman sent Naomi to a CIA boot camp to prepare her for this film, where she reportedly took part in interrogation sessions in which she was hooded, hand-cuffed and kicked about.
• The movie’s title comes from a quote from senior Bush adviser Karl Rove, that Joe Wilson’s wife was “fair game.

Naomi Watts: "Actually, there are parallels. I take on characters. She had to take on personas, and identities. The difference is, if I do badly I just get panned by the critics. If she does badly, she could end up with a bullet in her head. (My job) is not so risky, right?" (at the Cannes Film Festival, on whether she is like Valerie Plame)
Naomi Watts: “I may have been the only person I know of who was simultaneously breast-feeding and learning how to pack a weapon.” (on shooting the film just after she gave birth)
Naomi Watts: "“They kicked my shins and knocked me down and I said, ‘Ow!’. But they said, ‘No. You don’t say ow until you actually have to go to the hospital.’” (on the boot camp she was sent to to prepare for the role)
