thanks to ‘kochie332′ for the heads-up
I’ve added over 160 pictures from events Naomi attended in 2001, including the Movieline Awards and The Others Premiere with Nicole, the Cannes Film Festival and the Mulholland Drive Premiere. I’ve also come across some rare HQs from a 1993 event, the 1995 Sydney Premiere of Tank Girl, and the 1999 AFI Awards. Links and previews below
I’ve added a few HQs to the Gallery today, mainly in the TV Appearance and Photoshoots sections, and there are also some new movie stills. Click here for all new additions. I’m going to start getting all my Public Appearances pics up next, so look out for a lot more HQs soon …
I just wanted to say that we will not be posting candids here for a couple of weeks – Naomi deserves privacy whilst she is grieving and it is only right that we respect that. I think it’s disgusting that the paparazzi will not leave Heath’s family and friends alone.
I will also not be posting gossip surrounding what Naomi is doing at the moment, apart from the following facts –
Once again our thoughts and love go to Heath’s family and friends.
Naomi Watts doesn’t approve of the Oscars. The 39-year-old star – who received a Best Actress nomination for her role in ’21 Grams’ in 2004 – believes filmmaking should not be a “competition”. She said: “I’m not going to lie, it’s nice to get recognition from your peers. It means a lot. But I also feel one’s work shouldn’t be judged against someone else’s. It’s not a competition.”
David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises and Roger Spottiswoode’s Shake Hands with the Devil lead the pack among contenders vying for recognition at the 28th Genie Awards. Both racked up 12 nominations Monday, including best picture, best director and best actor.
Most of you will have heard of the tragic news of Heath Ledger’s death. As a fan of his I am deeply saddened by this news, and it is such a huge loss to the film industry. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He will be greatly, greatly missed.
Understandably, Naomi has cancelled her press appearances at Sundance, and according to onlookers broke down when she heard the news.
Perhaps avoiding the obvious questions awaiting her, Naomi Watts has canceled all her press appearances for Wednesday at the Sundance Film Festival, where her dark comedy Funny Games is slated to premiere at midnight.
She and Ledger met on the set of Ned Kelly in 2002 and dated for nearly two years. The late actor accompanied her to the Academy Awards in 2004, when she was up for Best Actress for 21 Grams.
“Heath’s a wonderful actor. Obviously, he’s got that movie-star quality in an old-fashioned way. He’s got that really powerful, manly voice, that soulful look behind his eyes, and he’s obviously quite a bit handsome, too. But above all, he’s a real actor.” – Naomi Watts in 2002
Naomi and Clive Owen were photographed filming The International in Brooklyn, New York on Friday, and I’ve added a few pictures to the Gallery. More set pictures will be added this week. I’ve also re-done our Top Affiliates on the sidebar – we have some fabulous new ones so please give them all a visit!
