Rumor has it, George Clooney is going to take on the lead role in remake project, “The Birds”. Bringing the rumor to the surface was Metro.co.uk which reported that Rod Taylor, the star of the original film, has been the one who pointed out the possibility of Clooney starring as lawyer Mitch Brenner. According to the publication, Taylor has expressed his excitement to Britain’s Daily Express stating, “I often cringe when I hear mention of remakes but I’ll hold judgment, especially since I’ve been told Clooney’s the favourite.”
Williams,” a Universal drama that Audrey Wells is attached to direct.
Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen are producing.
The screenplay by Wells tells the true story of Jody Williams, a strong-willed teacher working for a temporary employment agency who left her life in Washington to pursue an unlikely career in global activism. Almost a decade and a half later, Williams was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize for leading an international campaign to eradicate land mines.
Brash and somewhat controversial, Williams famously called President Bill Clinton a “weenie” for not signing the land mine ban.
Melissa Goddard is executive producing.
Universal’s Donna Langley, Peter Cramer and Maradith Frenkel are overseeing the project.
Watts, repped by CAA and Untitled, last starred in the English-language remake of “Funny Games” and “Eastern Promises.” “The International,” in which she stars opposite Clive Owen, is in the can.

Naomi has attended 3 new events in New York this week – on Sunday she and Liev were at the New York Film Festival premiere of The Wrestler and then the NYFF Closing Night Party, and the next day the couple were at a screening of Madonna’s directorial debut Filth & Wisdom. I’ve added pictures from the NYFF events to the Gallery and will add the other screening pics over the weekend.
Naomi Watts was so terrified of shooting scenes for the horror movie “Funny Games,” she sought comfort in partner Liv Schreiber, and conceived their first child. The actress turned to her long-time partner during breaks in filming in a bid to shake off the psychological effects of the English-language remake of Michael Haneke’s 1997 movie. But Watts’ fear soon turned to happiness after learning she was pregnant with their son, Alexander Pete.
Veteran Hollywood reporter Nelson Aspen counts Australian actors Naomi Watts and Hugh Jackman with some of the most down to earth stars in the world. Aspen, who is in Australia promoting his new book Hollywood Insider – Exposed!, has rubbed shoulders with most of the business’s biggest names over the past 40 years. He says he is impressed with Watts, who even picks up her own bags from the carousel at the airport.
